Running
By Nathan Birdsall
This years inaugural Richmond Riverside 10k Run was held on 18th March near the beautiful Ham House, a wonderfully scenic location and a fantastic course whether you're a seasoned runner or just getting started.
This event is a different take on our Run Richmond series, with an exclusive 10k distance to make. Yet with many more competitors and our event day partners - including the chaps from the local Up and Running store providing advice and tips on training, the ladies from Eastwick Coffee providing the Race Directors with much needed caffeine as well as the best medal engravers in Richmond, Paul and Alison - the energy and buzz around our event hub was great fun.
The atmosphere was super-friendly with MC extraordinaire, Fix Events own Carla Terry providing her dulcet tones and trademark charm to awaken our runners and get them revved up for a flat and straight 10k route. Our event marshals were also in tip top form, arriving early to help get everything prepared and helping and motivating our runners as they flew past the sights such as Eel Pie Island and Marble Hill House on our scenic course.
Setting off at 9.30am, and running along the riverside our competitors enjoyed an early Spring morning with the sun out and the rain holding off, taking the towpath route towards Twickenham and then back along the river, past our event hub, down to the Richmond end of the river and then back through our finishing arch to collect their medals and grab some refreshments.
A great time was had by one and all and we hope to see you all back there next time for our Summer Riverside 10k on 22nd July and the Autumn Riverside 10k on 21st October later this year.
