What To Do In Cardiff

Running

So you have just signed up for one of our Cardiff events, be it the Corporate Run or MoRun and want to make a weekend out of it. It is a beautiful city with lots to keep you entertained. Here are a few examples of things you could get up to:

There is a fantastic National Museum in the centre for anyone wanting to get a bit more knowledge about the surroundings and houses Wales’s national art, geology and natural history collections as well as major touring and temporary exhibitions.

Situated in the centre of the city, Cardiff Castle is one of Wales’ leading heritage attractions and a site of international significance. Located within beautiful parklands at the heart of the capital, Cardiff Castle’s walls and fairytale towers conceal 2,000 years of history. It is perfect for a nice family day out, with plenty to attract the interest of children. There is an audio guide, as well as a specialised children area with hands-on art and craft activities, puppet theatre and costumes to keep them fully entertained. Surrounding the castleis also the Animal Wall, a sculptured wall depicting 15 animals such as bears, a lioness, lynx and apes.

If you have time take a visit to Europe’s largest waterfront development – Cardiff Bay. There is a lot to keep everyone entertained from shops, restaurants, water sports and daytime tours. There is also the Roald Dahl Plass, named after the famous Welsh author, which has been known to hold open-air theatre events.

Definitely try and visit the home of Welsh Rugby, the Millenium Stadium. It was initially built for the 1999 rugby world cup but has gone on to host a number of mass participation events, including Music concerts, Fa Cup Finals and stages of the Wales GB Rally. With a total seating capacity of 74,500 it is a spectacular site to behold.

You cannot fail to walk past the City Hall, situated just by the University, which opened in 1906 and serves as Cardiff’s local government.

For those just wanting to relax and celebrate with a bit of food and drink in the sunshine (fingers crossed), there are a fantastic range of Pubs and Restaurants. Lots are situated in the City Centre or Cardiff bay, but some in particular to look out for are: The Conway; The Prince of Wales; The Wharf; and Y Mochyn Du.

Whatever you do, we hope you have a fantastic time and enjoy your visit to this beautiful Capital City.
