ABOUT US
Fix Events delivers 50+ running and triathlon events a year, all over the UK; everything from 5Ks to triathlons. We're a small team that cares deeply about getting the details right, and looking after the people who turn up: runners, volunteers and partners alike.
Our job is to make every event feel well-run, friendly and worth coming back for.
THE ROLE
What we’re looking for
We're looking for an Event Manager to own the delivery of our events on the ground.
This isn't a turn-up-and-marshal job.
You're the person in charge on the day - making sure the event is set up properly, runs safely, starts on time and leaves people wanting to come back week after week.
You'll lead the crew and volunteers, sort problems before anyone notices them, and be the calm point everyone looks to when something needs a decision - and own it.
You'll work across roughly 40–50 events a year, mostly at weekends, travelling to sites around the country.
We like leaders and doers. We’re looking for someone to roll their sleeves up and not be afraid to get stuck in.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Before the event
- Get across the plan for each event - course, timings, kit and who's doing what
- Collect the pre-packed van the day before and get everything to site
- Set up the course, start and finish, signage and event village
On the day
- Run the event end to end, from setup to pack-down
- Lead the on-site crew and volunteers, and brief them clearly so everyone knows their job
- Keep things safe and on schedule, and make the calls when plans need to change
- Be the friendly face for participants - sort issues quickly and keep the mood good
After the event
- Hand the van back and flag anything that needs fixing or restocking
- Feed back on what went well and what we should do differently next time
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Essential
- Around 2–3 years' experience running events — ideally running, triathlon or other mass-participation events, though we'll consider strong event experience from elsewhere
- Confident leading a team and keeping calm when things get busy
- Organised, proactive, and happy working on your own or as part of a team
- Genuinely good with people - warm, approachable and clear in their delivery of instructions
- A full UK driving licence; physically fit and up for regular weekend work
- Based near Reigate (ideally within about an hour) and happy to travel UK-wide, including Wales, the Midlands, the North and Scotland
Nice to have
- First aid training
- Experience with race timing systems
- A background in running or triathlon yourself
WHAT WE OFFER
We're a small, fast-growing team that takes the events seriously and has good fun doing it. You'll be offered:
- Real variety (and we mean it) - 40–50 events a year, no two weekends the same
- People to learn from while you find your feet
- Flexible working around the event calendar
- Free race entries and all the coffee you can drink
WHERE THIS COULD LEAD
This is a role you can grow into.
You'll start by owning the delivery of our events, and as you find your feet there's room to take on bigger events, help train and lead newer crew, and have a real say in how Fix runs its events as we grow at pace.
HOW TO APPLY
If you love endurance events and want to run them on the ground, we'd love to hear from you. Send us a quick note about yourself — nothing formal, just what you've worked on and why this is for you.
