Runners! Here are some great benefits of cycling for runners…

 

Recovery

Instead of sitting around on the couch on your recovery days how about getting on your bike and pumping some extra kilometres?  Cycling is a great way to ease soreness and keep your joints and muscles mobile while minimilasing the impact injuries you can get from high-impact exercise.  Cycling also keeps you burning calories while not inflaming those running aches and strains and is a great active recovery activity.

 

Building Muscle

Cycling is a good alternative exercise to running as it utilizes muscles you wouldn’t necessarily be using when running.  Building up complimentary muscles is fantastic for your core and will only improve your running times – aiding stamina, strength and balance.

 

Increased Endurance

Whether you want to increase your speed, run further or just enjoy your run a bit more safe in the knowledge you are not struggling then cycling could be the key.  Try cycling twice as far as you run and then see how you feel on your next run – we reckon you’ll be bossing those steep inclines and smashing your personal bests in no time!

 

Less injuries

Running can quickly become addictive, especially for those who do it regularly. Unfortunately, running every day can quickly mount the stress on your body, which leads to more frequent injuries. If you want to increase your exercise or even keep it consistent while reducing the risk of injuries, cycling is a great activity that will allow you to get moving while still keeping your body safe.
