What To Do In Greenwich

February 22, 2017

Inspiration

Never been to Greenwich before? Why not take a day out after the Tough 5k, 10k or 15k Run and enjoy a few sights this wonderful area of London has to offer. Here are a few examples of things you could get up to:

If you have never been there before, one of the most spectacular sights is the O2 Arena. If you are lucky to be there you could see some live music or sport, there is also the opportunity to climb to the top which provides an amazing view across London. Or you could just relax in one of the many bars and restaurants.

You could go to the Royal Observatory where you can stand on the historic Prime Meridian of the World and see the home of Greenwich mean Time (GMT)

If you want to do a bit of shopping, one of London’s best Markets has up to 120 stalls selling all sorts of goods and produce, including very good arts and crafts.

There is the famous Cutty Sark which you can board and experience what life was like on board a legendary sailing ship. It has recently been raised a few metres so you can enjoy the amazing experience of walking underneath. There is also a very nice restaurant and bar onboard for you to sit and relax at.

Just next to the Cutty Sark is the entrance to the fantastic Foot Tunnel, which goes around 50 metres under the Thames and links the London boroughs of Greenwich and Woolwich. It is 1,217 feet long and is used by around 1.5 million people a year. I would highly recommend walking all the way through to Island Gardens where you can enjoy spectacular views of Greenwich from across the River.

For those just wanting to relax and celebrate with a bit of food and drink in the sunshine (fingers crossed), there are a fantastic range of Pubs and Restaurants, including the Old Brewery, Greenwich Tavern, Plume of Feathers, The Trafalgar Tavern  and Goddards.

Whatever you do, we hope you have a fantastic time and enjoy your visit to this beautiful part of London.
