Running
By Nathan Birdsall
Southwark Park hosted the Sanlam Go Dad Run for 2017 this Sunday.
The Go Dad Run series was started by Olympic hurdler Colin Jackson MBE, to raise money and awareness of men's health issues and getting guys talking more about their problems and concerns.
Fathers and their sons arrived en-mass to congregate around the bandstand, get registered and kitted out in special blue y-fronts and Go Dad Run T-shirts. The atmosphere was joyous with Olympic swimmer Mark Foster and TV personality Sian Lloyd giving our runners a great motivational speech before getting everyone warmed and up and to the start line.
Running around the flat and fast course at Southwark our runners completed two or four laps of our 2.5k route with some fantastic times being posted.
Well done to everyone taking part and you can find the top finishers below.
5k: 1. Jonnie McGovern - 17.48, 2. Tim Sherman - 18.02, Dan Olsen - 20.06
10k: 1. Kieron Wye - 35.08, 2. Grant Schmidlechner - 35.41, 3. Hugo Evans - 38.21
